BIO

Born and raised in Orange County, California Mike Madariaga  began playing guitar at 14, Beginning with rock influences, classical guitar and later Hardcore and Metal. Mike later became involved with the local scene and was part of the beginnings of what would become the metalcore and deathcore scenes. Mike recorded and toured extensively worldwide  with many bands including As Hope Dies, Winds of Plague, and Death By Stereo. In his early days Mike took an interest in soundtrack and instrumental musicians such as Mike Oldfield and Ennio Morricone. He graduated from Musicians Institute in 2001 and began teaching guitar the  same year. He later became fascinated with avant guard acoustic players such as Michael Hedges and Andy McKee, subsequently he began learning that style. Mike is also guitarist and a founding member of Vital Nonesense a jazz fusion group headed by notable bassist Gabe Rosales who’s played with Jennifer  Lopez, George Lynch, and Andy Summers

Currently and with the release of his solo ep 395, Mike has broadened his scope of music, with an ambition for soundtracks and soundscapes, and creating a new sound for guitar music, a modern guitar ensemble incorporating all of his influences. Acoustic to electric, classical to metal. Mike has also taken to the stage as a solo act performing avant-guard style acoustic music all over Southern California. Mike is also an accomplished guitar instructor teaching online and in home lessons, coaching band classes at Edison High School and teaching at risk youth for the outreach charity Create Now

Mike’s future endeavors will see him creating more soundscapes with an increasing pallet of sound incorporating many new styles of music, and incorporating visual multi media art to go along with his compositions. Mike has also began scoring concepts for potential use in soundtrack and video game music.
